How to play Krillion

Unofficial guide · Updated Oct 18, 2026, 3:23 PM UTC (Oct 18, 11:23 PM GMT+8) · Cross-checked against the live game at krillion.io (onboarding copy, FAQ, and client constants where they are public).

The daily dive, in one screen

  • Seven prompts a day — the same set for everyone.
  • A short timed window to name one thing per prompt (about 20–25 seconds).
  • One scored Daily Dive attempt per day; no second chances on that board.
  • Rare accepted answers score big; obvious ones float near the surface.
  • Every point sinks you 10 metres. 700 is the trench floor.

Seven rounds and a 700-point ceiling are fixed in the official client (ROUNDS_PER_DAY = 7, MAX_DAY_SCORE = 700). Per-prompt timer length is not published on a public rules page, so we keep it as a short window rather than a hard claim.

Rules that actually matter

  1. Read the prompt’s restrictions. Spelling patterns, categories, and exclusions are part of the puzzle.
  2. Submit one answer per prompt. The game validates it against that day’s answer set.
  3. Only accepted answers earn rarity points. A clever guess that never made the curated set scores nothing.
  4. Rarity is relative to the day. The same word can sit in different tiers on different boards.
  5. Unlimited and themed packs are extra modes on the official site — they do not replace the once-a-day scored dive.

How scoring works

Accepted answers land in rarity tiers. The official client defines six named bands (Plankton 10, Too Clever 15, Schooler 30, Rare 60, Deep Cut 85, One in a Krillion 100). Missed prompts add zero. Add the seven round scores for your depth.

Depth conversion is linear: 1 point = 10 metres. Seven perfect gems are 700 points / 7,000 metres — the trench floor.

Deeper explainers: rarity tiers · score → depth · why the same answer moves.

What time does Krillion reset?

The official client keys the calendar to America/New_York and advances the board at New York midnight. In UTC that is 04:00 during EDT and 05:00 during EST (US DST ends 2026-11-01).

Full countdown and timezone table → reset time.

First-time checklist

  1. Open the official Daily Dive at krillion.io.
  2. Play the seven prompts before the next New York midnight.
  3. If you want a nudge without the full sheet, use today’s hints.
  4. After you finish (or if you missed a day), read today’s answers or yesterday’s.
  5. Remember: this fansite is unofficial — scoring always belongs to the game.
